During the demonstrations against the Iraq war earlier this year the most
prominent flag in Austria (as in neighbouring Italy, Germany etc.) was the
rainbow peace flag with the inscription PACE, of Italian origin.

Rainbow peace flags with the German inscription FRIEDE, after being
introduced in Germany are spreading to Austria as
well. One such flag was photographed in Vienna on 2010-06-01:

was: purple, dark blue, light blue, green, yellow, orange and red; word FRIEDE
was inscribed in white over light blue and green. Green was lighter than on most
of other flags.

A flag with an Italian inscription and variant color pattern was photographed
in August 2003 in St Radegund, Austria:

Flags with the English inscription PEACE, instead of Italian PACE or German
FRIEDE, are also sometimes used in Austria. Such flags were photographed in St
Radegund, Austria in August 2003:
